Yes - my grandfather lived in Knaresborough at the end of his life, and I used to watch them going over the viaduct from his living room window (when they were still quite novel). Dreadful trains, but I associate them with that. Still quite a few 142s knocking around Manchester too, and Cardiff to Barry services as well I think.

Gruff Rhys was up there with the best things I've ever seen at Indietracks, I think he's an absolute genius. Obviously whoever they pick won't please everyone, but they seem to do a great job of finding some new surprises each time.
Seconded!! The Chills, Dean Wareham, The Hidden Cameras and Gruff Rhys were brilliant! The best headliners in the history of Indietracks imo (with the exception of Teenage Fanclub in 2009)! I knew nothing about Gruff Rhys but I found his storytelling uttetly wonderful and entertaining.
The Chills and Dean Wareham's performances were unbelievable and brought tears to the eyes of many people who were watching them for the first time.

A big, big thanks to Team Indietracks! Roll on Indiettracks 2015!

No idea who filmed this (was it one of you?), but I like how it captures the mood.

If I remember rightly, Watoo Watoo covered Le premier jour du reste de ta vie / Ready or not, a Sarah Cracknell composition translated into French by Etienne Daho. I hesitate slightly only as I know they've covered other songs from the same source previously, but I think this is the right one.

Hi!

Sorry to reply so late.

We did two covers at indietracks.
An Etienne Daho song "Tombé pour la France"
A Young Marble Giants song "Searching for Mr Right".

We did2 Etienne Daho covers (including the one that you mention) for a Etienne Daho tribute gig long ago.

They can be listened to on our bandcamp &/or our soundcloud. Should I give the link or is it considered spam?

Ahah, thanks for caring!
The Etienne Daho cover:

The Sarah Cracknell/Etienne Daho cover: [soundcloud]http://soundcloud.com/watoowatoo/le-pre ... -cracknell[/soundcloud]
(Pascale says that we're very happy to cover 2 E. Daho's song, & a woman in the audience says "it's already too much"!)

& the YMG song:

These are all also on our bandcamp: https://watoowatoo.bandcamp.com/
