stephenhero was Patrick Fitzgerald from Kitchens of Distinction who put out a fifth LP last year, not sure if stephenhero is still a happening thing, last release was 2009 (apparently)

Really? I've not heard from them for ages and would love it if they were.

Rumours of a finished album. But I know no more.... (could have been an elaborate wind up!)

Cats On Fire seem to have been recording in April. A Smile And A Ribbon still post on Facebook, but not actually about the band or their promised new record for more than a year now. The latter of Arthur & Martha was Alice now of Cosines. Victorian English Gentlemens Club recorded an album with Jim Sclavonus of the Bad Seeds and then just didn't do anything with it.

Did anything become of the members of Strange Idols? They seemed to be getting somewhere and then just stopped. (Actually I've just looked this up and found Roque interviewed them in 2012 - Laura joined Gaggle, the others kicked around part-time bands for a while)

I think was just how Liz (and one other) from The School were billed to play on the Train. Not sure if they were meant to be a different band seeing as The School played as well.
and that snare drum, that drum roll
means we've got a winner

Countryside were brilliant that first year! Did they ever release anything?

It's done and will be out at some point...apparently. Not likely to tour again sadly.

This was indeed Liz and their old drummer Rob who is drumming on their new album and releases his own music as The Voluntary Butler Scheme.

I saw both Cats On Fire and Electric Pop Group live last December, Electric Pop Group's set was only with new songs.

It ended in lawsuits and cocaine. Terrible scenes.

There is an album; it will be out in 2015, but the details are still being figured out. Child-rearing, emigration (Alec to the U.S., me to Liverpool) and day jobs have been getting in the way, but we're not ruling out a gig some day.

I'm also quite excited about the new Chemistry Experiment LP, by the way.

La Famille Catastrophe are dead. Simon is in a new band called The Half Dead Darlings.

The Hermit Crabs split.

I always wondered what happened to The San Marinos.

Not strictly true, I don't think. Mel just ceased all contact with the rest of the band (of which I was one) and later went off and recorded an album on her own.
That was ages ago though and it's never been released.

There was certainly nothing official. Pictures of squirrels seem to still be occasionally posted to the Twitter feed so count that as signs of life if you like!
