I only took one photo at indietracks this year:

Image

It is me and Jo at the campsite disco last night.

I'm a bit too tired at the moment to write a long post about the festival but still very fresh in my memory is last night's campsite disco. As always it was one of the highlights of the festival: a last chance to dance with the friends you won't see until next year, to drink/share any remaining alcohol (I had some Buckfast last night for the first time ever) and hugs and goodbyes. Even though I was restricted to chair dancing this year it was still a lot of fun.

I'll write about the rest of indietracks later but would just like to say thank you to all the team for another wonderful weekend. It truly is the highlight of my year and one of the greatest things ever. See you all again next year :-D.

The crowd reaction to Sultans of Ping at the Friday night disco in the campsite was probably my highlight of the weekend.

Highlights: Everything (but Fever Dream and The Hi-Life Companion and ChorusGirl were particularly brilliant. As usual, I missed way more than I saw)

Lowlights: This charlatan called Les Crepes who has staged a coup on the Carnival of Food van. No pasaran.

The staff make it for me. We took Ted in the narrow gauge railway on Sunday in the piss soaking rain, and the fella took time to tell us,in great historical detail, about a canal tunnel that ran all the way under the site towards Matlock that collapsed when they shut the mine in Swanwick (and I love all that shit) "They're trying to clear it and open it up again," he said, "but I shan't be around to see it."

I really bloody hope he is.

Another good weekend, band highlights from me were Fever Dream, Feature, Chorusgirl and The Ethical Debating Society.

I'm not an owl expert but we were particularly fond of the one with the flat face, who seemed to spend all his time giving people and other owls angry stares.

Missed not having music playing over the Platform at Butterley as you rolled up at the station this year.

...and of course thanks to everyone involved in organising and running it, must have been miserable keeping it running in the rain on Sunday.

Just amazing as always.

Music things:

Very much enjoyed The School, Chorusgirl, Rodney Cromwell, Colleen Green (the coolest person alive, I was too shy to go and talk to her), Pains Of Being Pure Of Heart, Violet Woods, Colour Me Wednesday (best cover of the weekend), JUNK, The Tuts (second best cover of the weekend), Laetitia Sadier (who remembered me from Cardiff last year and said hello!), Euros Childs and the batshit joyful explosion of exuberance that was The Go Team. Also dancing to Taylor Swift at two discos. All three discos I attended were ace.

Non music things

Ridiculous 6.9% IPA, Gopals, scoring a free Oddbox hoodie, the sun on Saturday, making friends with the owls (Esmeralda and Barrett the barn owls, Gandalf the great grey and Bilbo the transforming owl), meeting Twitter friends for the first time and of course seeing all of your lovely faces again.

Thanks to Team Indietracks and Midland Railway for an amazing weekend. Same again next year (for the 10 year anniversary!)?

That was Gandalf.

Highlights:
The Wave Pictures
Tigercats
Martha
Chorusgirl
Ralegh Long with A Little Orchestra
Fire Island Pines (likely their last gig, apparently - awww)
Grubs
The Fireworks
The School
Euros Childs
Los Bonsáis covering Part Time Punks in Spanish
Niall's life coaching workshop
Pam Berry, Emma Kupa, Jack Hayter, Ralegh Long and someone else covering Never Ever in the merch tent
Steven James Adams finishing his set in the play area
The owls
The wonderfulness of everyone involved with putting together and maintaining the whole thing

Lowlights:
Yesterday's alright-it's-not-funny-any-more rain
Martha's early sound issues and the indoor sound engineers' general problem with bands of more than one vocalist
The blackleg BBQ van taking Carnival Of Food's speciality away. I don't think I saw anyone with a waffle or crepe all weekend
Stone fired pulled pork pizza, which I didn't try but sounds like possibly the least Indietracks thing of all
That the next one is a year away

Brilliant. One of my favourite Indietrackses yet, despite the weather.

My highlight was Martha, the best I've ever seen them play and probably the equal-best Indietracks set I've seen (nothing will ever beat Suburban Kids, but this was an equivalent level of amazing). Their new songs were amazing! I'm pleased they were the last band that I saw, if they'd played at the start of the festival it would have set an impossible standard to follow! Other great bits: Emma Kupa in the church, her solo band sounded beautiful - banjo, cello and saxophone together at last! Their version of Satellite of Love gets my nod for cover of the weekend, although Colour Me Wednesday's was also brilliant and they were well worth standing in the rain for (new album please!) Tigercats, Grubs, Wave Pictures, Baker Island and Alexander Christopher Hale's train set were also excellent musical moments.

In non-musical stuff, the beer was as good as ever, the burritos were delicious, and when parrots make a sound like laughing children it's as creepy as hell (in a good way). The railway staff were as friendly and helpful as ever, they are amazing.

My only regret is not seeing any of the merch tent acoustic sets this year. I didn't remember until I got home yesterday that for some reason last year I never got quite into the spirit of things for some reason. Normal magical service resumed for 2015, absolutely fantastic!

We nearly didn't go this year, I'm so glad we did, because it were brilliant... if I can gather my thoughts I'll get everything down at some point... it's the people what make it, even if it's a just an exchange of big grins or even a nod of recognition as you pass... I'm still damp- it may be my age

Sat here grinning

I enjoyed every band I saw, even though I was in pain from airbed sleeping and carrying too much in my rucksack. I'm not sure I'm going to manage that again; getting too old. Loved in particular: Chorusgirl, Feature, Colour Me Wednesday and of course Martha. I did not enjoy being very cold in the tent at night. Had to get an emergency hoody from Sainsbury's on Saturday. Photos, many dreadful, some OK, couple of fab ones: https://www.flickr.com/photos/orqwith/s ... 6357556626 Bilbo the Scops owl was my fave. He went all thin at the sight of the drug labrador. :-) Also, I would like to mention Johnson's Café, which is wonderful.

Bilbo is my very favourite! I didn't talk to him this year, sadly. The plate-faced one was fun though. Did anyone else see the terribly embarrassed horse in a rain mac?

Hooray! It was all great (apart from the weather yesterday) but I particularly enjoyed Martha, Tigercats and my discovery of the weekend, wandering bleary-eyed into the church first thing on Saturday was Cristina Quesada, who was wonderful. More Abba songs translated into artists' native languages please!

BBQ pulled pork pizzas were terrific. And Gandalf was clearly the best owl.

Well done Team Indietracks, another great year!

(Photos to follow, if any of them were any good.)

I didn't see it this year but have done in previous years and it always looked embarrassed.

Yes! I shall upload another for the general amusement once I am not too tired to take my memory card out of my camera!

Hello everyone this is my first post, it was my first time at Indietracks and I loved it!

Highlights:
– The friendly vibe & atmosphere
– Fever Dream setting a very high standard from the start
– The ales (agree the 6.9% Citraville was special, honourable mentions for Rapture & London Lady)
– Seeing bands dancing to other bands
– Rémi Parson in the church
– The amazing attitude to recycling
– Desperate Journalist
– Buying a Wave Pictures mug directly from Franic Rozycki
– Especially as The Wave Pictures were my musical highlight
– Closely followed by Martha & Desperate Journalist
– Great food: 1st. Gopal curry 2nd. Chilli Fajita 3rd. Afternoon Tea in Johnson's Buffet
– Friendly security staff
– Seeing bands staying at the campsite
– In fact the campsite was really well run and hands down beats most festival camping!

Lowlights:
– The sound in the Indoor Stage :(
– I'd like a bit more synth pop (but maybe that's just me)
