I'm hoping some official announcements will be coming soon as after London Popfest, it's the next major 4-day international popfest! And it's just just over 2.5 months away now. I know some bands who have booked their flights already but no one has officially announced that they are playing.

Er, Madrid, Rome. aren't they all before New York? Not sure they are 4 days long, though.

Christ, how could I forget Madrid? I've been following them so closely! They're doing such an excellent promotional job and I'd so love to be there.

I didn't forget the Rome one though. It's much smaller, 2 days and focused almost solely on Italian bands which I think is ace.

I thought you'd had a mind fade! I wasn't sure on Rome. But if my new job had come through a little sooner I'd been up for Madrid. Alas, it didn't.

I know, I'm dying for some announcements, RITH/Dennis! Maz said 'early next week' there'd be some and it is now Wednesday. Oh, I'm impatient. :-)

Oh hell yes, Maz! You do not disappointment! This is brilliant news on a Friday night. Oh my god, Days over from Sweden and Caucus over from Japan. And post-Airfields Persian Rugs playing. Wonderful. Plus Dream Diary. Question answered, thank you. And to be able to espouse about The Felt Tips coming over - eeee! Also, two of my dear Chicago hometown bands who I miss. I'm feeling a bit teary with some sort of Midwestern pride. Oh dear, I cannot wait for this.

Well done once again Maz and team NYC Popfest. xo

I have been revisiting this line-up in my head ever since it was announced on Friday night. It is utterly superb. Go Sailor is really quite something. I can't wait to see Linton bashing about on drums! And Rose is so charming live. I thought Days had gone into hibernation or pulled a Youngfuck and decided not to do anything anymore. I'm so thrilled they're coming over. I'm really glad you've (Maz) brought back some of the winners from last year so that I and others get a chance to see them, either for the first time or again! Gold-Bears, Sea Lions, Dream Diary and Tiny Microphone (well, another Kristine & Lisle incarnation!) = yes. I am so proud of The Sunny Street too. I can't wait to see them in a completely different environment, on the mean streets of Brooklyn! :D I think Betty and the Werewolves will go down extraordinarily well over there too. I also like that I don't know all of the bands, so there will be some surprises and new discoveries. That's really important to have at a festival, I think. The Japanese bands have definitely got me excited.

So there are still some to be announced. You really don't need to! The line-up as it stands is brilliant. Well-done again. It is just over two months until I fly to NYC. Yay!

I don't even know why I'm in this thread, since I'll just have left NYC by then... but I'm still excited to see who the 'nice surprise' will be.

We've added two more bands to this year's line-up!

The Specific Heats (NYC)

"Inspired by love for 1960s surf, pop, garage & psych pop as well as 90s/2000s indie pop, their sound developed from a blend of energetic yet melancholy indie pop into the “missing link” between timid and meticulous indie pop & and wild, untamed garage rock that no one had ever asked for."

Amida (Manchester, UK)

"5 piece from Manchester playing short, sharp bursts of summery jangle pop"

Wow! That's a nice one, Maz. I often forget about this band which is silly. I also often wonder what good modern pop bands there are in Manchester nowadays and the only one I ever think of is (most of) Help Stamp Out Loneliness. So props to Amida! I've only seen them once but feel they deserve more attention. I want to give them more of a chance too as I remember being annoyed at the incessant 'honey babys' in that one song...oh, what was it called? Oh, 'Virtue Was Your Downfall.'

I'm so psyched to see Betty & the Werewolves again and to get to see SHRAG - who I missed at last year's Indie Tracks!
And the Sea Lions of course!
