Please tell me I'm not the only one to have spent an enormous chunk of change to see Jeff Mangum.

I'm much too scared at the type of crowds that will be at these Jeff Mangum shows (and the tickets tend to sell out in thirty seconds.)

I'm very surprised that he's curating ATP, though. He's been easing back into the spotlight for the past year or so with the Chris Knox benefit and other small NY events, but this is awfully large.

Jeff isn't curating--it's Portishead. He's just "special guest"--aka "the reason tix sold out"! That's why I'm kicking myself for buying the tix now; I have zero interest in the other bands. I diddo you on the crowds thing, but Jeff is actually playing in a small theatre; not the same place as the rest of the festival. That's why I took the plunge. Having said that, I can't stand Portishead; no interest in Will Oldham either. I've seen Shellac and once was enough. (Boy, I'm really selling this festival--HA!) I'm sure some good acts will get announced. I'm just being a pickle.

Well, I'm gonna sell my ticket if I can, because I'd rather go to Athens PopFest the next week. I've been waiting for Athens to happen when flights were cheaper and it wasn't 100 degrees--and now it's happening! I'm dying to see Jeff Mangum, but now I'm realizing there's more of a chance of his touring than I thought. I got swept up in the moment!

If anyone wants my ATP tix (I have the 3-day pass and the one day Jeff Magnum for the Monday), you've got first crack. Just PM me.

Oh I see, it's funny that Mangum's name is as big as Portishead's. That is neat that he'll be playing a smaller theatre, as I can only imagine most of his touring shows will be rather large.

Athens Popfest sounds wonderful.
