Hey Kris. A few months ago I was listening to some of those HIAYH radio shows again. It's predictable that "A Kind Of Loving" would be one of my favourites I guess. And I've already said on here how great I think The Foxgloves' "Passing Through" is. I remembered after hearing "I'd Rather Be Here" that Bella Vista had something on the Matinee catalogue, but it was only when I looked I found that Mark from Pipas was in them. Tada Tata's "Hit The Wall" reminds me of the first Architecture In Helsinki album, the slower songs especially. And I'd like to have got that Metric Mile ep, the one with the sealion on it. "In Praise Of Ski Jumpers" is up there with that song about beating the SAT.

3 items on this post's agenda

#1 Hi Kris. I got The Coolies album at the album release show the other week. They were fantastic live, but I have to say I'm a little dissapointed with the album. Stefan seems to have had quite a lot of influence on the sound of it, and I'm not sure I'm keen on the results.

#2 Richard. What was the song playing over the tannoy after Pixies on Sunday? I didn't recognise it but it sounded good.

#3 After establishing that we'd be keen to meet up and that Sunday suits, maybe we could have a mini-meet this Sunday (or whenever people can make it). Alexis is house bound these days with her thesis almost due - but I'd be keen to meet up for a drink.

that is all.

Great stuff - see you all then.

I'll send L a text as well - although he seems to have a terrible cold/exams combo going at the moment.

Chris, it was Lucky Soul with "Lips are Unhappy". What Pixies song was it? I was up in the clubrooms getting squiffy on cider so missed them both. You should definitely come up next time you can make it to a game.

I'm gonna try and get some Speedmarket Avenue played at the next home game... maybe some Northern Soul as well. I've heard of "Punk Football" (FCUM, St Pauli etc) but Auckland City FC gives the world "Indiepop Football"!!

It took me a long time to realise Surf Friends weren't Surf City tbh. I've never seen them play or really listened to their music - but I don't feel like going out of my way to do so.

Richard/Mike: are you guys going to Fred Taylor Park on Sunday to see the Waitakere game, I was thinking of heading out there...

Yes, we're both intending to head out to the "small club in Kumeu" for this one.

Kick off is now 4pm due to clash with NZ v Papua New Guinea World Cup Qualifier at NHS.

Y'know, I think it probably is.

Emily and I are planning to go to the Devonport Folk thing next Sunday. It's in, er, Devonport. There'll be people playing ukuleles at some point apparently. And The Patriot sells that beer thing that we're all so fond of. What's not to love?

Hmm I'm working on Sunday, in Glenfield. I don't think I'm going to make it down to Devonport. How about one evening next week?

There are indiepop Kiwis!

Chris, tell Alexis she can't have my copy of Celestial Cafe so she should remove her hold. I'm only a short way through my second reading of it. I figure that as it's one of the McIlroy kids' great North Shore Libraries "suggestions for purchase" legacies (the other two being Theatre of Silence: The Lost Soul Of Football (me) and London Orbital (Mike)) I should get to have it for as long as I like - I'm even thinking about sticking a little certificate on the inside of the front cover "This book was presented by...". I'm definitely going to put my initials inside the back cover.

Aw, bless you, Marianthi, you are a sweetiepie.

All the indiepop kiwis are Auckland based so we should be all present and correct. Not sure if anyone has friends or family in Christchurch though.

It's lovely of you to check.

I got Sunday off for City's game against Canterbury United, but that's cancelled now, so if anyone wants to get a drink.

Or go see The Clean... http://www.nzmusician.co.nz/index.php/p ... temid/4470
I think Markie's attendance at that may be mandatory.

I was also thinking of going along to the Summer Series to celebrate the absence of any any pallid 'roots' bands.

I was planning on going to Summer Series but Lawrence texted me to say the weather looks shocking for Saturday and he thinks it might get rained off. I do hope not as it will be my last chance to see the Drab Doo Riffs.

Sunday afternoon at Kings Arms watching The Clean looks like a grand idea.

How about that Clean show! I never saw them tour "Vehicle". I wish I had though. And I can only really remember hearing them play one song off it since, the one that Bob Scott sings. It seemed kind of forgotten. So when they started up "Some One" it was almost hard to believe. And they played "Draw(in)g To A (W)hole" as well!
