The Manhattan Love Suicides

Post by Trev » Mon Oct 01, 2007 11:02

"Keep It Coming" released on Lost Music Records this Friday. They're awesome. :-) They also have a gig at Brixton Jamm on that day too.

I hear they played Stoke recently. How was it?

The Stoke gig was brilliant!
I though my ears were going to fall off.
Really, really enjoyed it.

Bloody fantastic!

You know how sometimes you see bands who do a bit of an 'image' thing and it works in bigger venues but looks silly in smaller venues? The MLS still carry off their look and feedback-between-songs and 20-minute sets really well even in little venues like the Glebe in Stoke and the Grapes in Sheffield. I think that counts for a lot somehow.

An utterly fabulous band.

Saw them at The Packhorse in Leeds on a bill with The Seven Inches, ChemEx and The Butterflies of Love and they were a bit out of place on there. Bumped into the bass dude at Dan Deacon in Nottingham though and he seemed a good egg.

Not sure about the ladyvocals but the guitars are acecakes.

SEXIST!

The bass dude is indeed lovely. He gave me a hug the other night. This is nothing to do with why I like the band so much, I hasten to add. Well, maybe a bit. But I liked them already, honest!

Yes, last Friday and the MLS were ace. The Glebe is known for its loud pa and the MLS were well loud! And POP! Really terrific.....

My God, what a band. What a band! They blew me away again last night and it's not because they get better every time I see them - I think it's because *I* get better at appreciating their genius. *awe*

I loved last night. Loved it.

Thanks to those that came along. We had so much fun. It was fun, seeing people get really into Manhattans and Irene. Loved it.

So who has got the Manhattans LP on vinyl with the extra songs? I just made mp3s of both the songs. I needed a new more instant MLS fix.

Gah, I just missed out on buying that for a fiver when they played a popshow in Stoke with the Horowitz boys. Went up to the merch table (such as it is) and somebody had just bought the last one.

4 pounds?! No wonder Forever Changes is closing down.

I keep forgetting to buy the vinyl of this and I should cos it's one of my very very favourite albums ever ever.

My record has turned up in Liverpool!
I thought it was lost forever.
It's so sad how I bought it so long ago though and I still haven't yet been able to listen to it.
I'm hoping it will be returned to me for Christmas.
Come on Santa, sort it out.

It was £4 in the really rather sad 1/2 price closing down sale.
