i'm totally obsessed with the album. kind of starts out jangly then gets more synth-y but always really fun and poppy. i think record shop and biergarten are the ones i love the most maybe. i still can't decide.

part of the reason we started up a club night again was just so we could play record shop super loud somewhere.

I'm completely addicted to this record after only a few days ! Keep playing it over and over and over again.
Have not done that since the Shrag album.

I absolutely love the album! It's sugary pop hook after sugary pop hook. Every single song is an immediate winner. 'Cellophane' and 'Record Shop' we all know and love, but there are three or four on here that could prove to be even more enduring pop songs: 'A Ghost With a Hammer in His Hand' and 'Biergarten' following one from another is just pure bliss and a pair of songs that will be hard to be matched this year. This might be the record of the year (so far) for me (until I get this excited about the next wonderful pop release, that is).

I am so excited about their jaunt to Nottingham in early May. It simply can't come soon enough.

Where Its At Is Where You Are and Papillons Noirs are proud to present the heart-poundingly beautiful and insanely catchy, RECORD SHOP, taken from the eponymous debut LP from Manchester sublime sextet Help Stamp Out Loneliness, due out in May.

http://www.wiaiwya.com/downloads/

Fronted by the striking, Nico-esque singer D. Lucille against glittering backdrop of transistor organs and jangle-pop guitars, the alluringly seductive Record Shop tells a story of rock-star stalkers inspired by Sandra Bernhards character from Scorseses ‘King of Comedy’.

Released as a free single, RECORD SHOP will become the perfect soundtrack to Record Store Day, on April 16th... Play loud... VERY LOUD

you'll also notice the album is available for pre-sale... just click the buy button, and be the envy of your friends

oh, and now the Guardian love it too... " the most addictive indiepop track I've heard since Camera Obscura's Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken: hi-gloss pop driven by an urgent rush to empathise"

if you see Sid, tell him...

I've finally got around to listening to the album this morning. I echo what's been said above, which obviously means LOADS.

This year has been packed with so many ace albums already.

Are they playing anywhere before they play in Nottingham?

Yeah, this is the album of the year so far for me. Beautiful stuff and I really hope to be able to see them live some time soon.

Hmm. I'm really tempted by Trev's do, but I dunno if I can afford a weekend in London at the moment.

I agree though, this and the Comet Gain album are taking turns at being the best album of the year so far.

Also - ALSO - 'Cottonopolis + Promises' is the best album-opener I've heard for years. It's stunning.

That and Record Shop are ♥

Can't wait to see them again at the Odd Box Weekender. A definite highlight of Popfest for me this year.

How many times can you listen to an album on loop before you go a bit crackers?

I've been asking myself that selfsame question, but still I keep coming back to this glorious album again and again and again.
It's just sooo sooo great. And now the sun is out, it sounds even more glorious !
I' m pretty sure no album will come close to it, come the end of year.

It's one of those records that makes you wonder where the world took a wrong turn so that records like this, so full of pop-laden hooks, don't sit on the top of the charts (is there still a 'charts'?) for weeks and weeks and weeks.

Combine that with the epic closer and you have the most beautifully bookended album in quite some while.

on record store day (16th April) we're making a video for Help Stamp Out Loneliness' Record Shop single, and wondered if any of you who were planning on queuing up for your records would mind filming about 20 seconds of the queue you are in, preferably with the shop visible, on your phones?

quality and definition are not an issue at all, so don't worry if you've never shot anything before... also, if you know other music fans who will be getting up very early for their fix-o-pop could you pass this on to them?... the more shops we can feature from all over the world the better...

if you could then email the footage to recordshop@wiaiwya.com, along with your name, the name and address of the shop you visited, and a list of the records you managed get, we'll edit it down to a marvellous pop video...

finally, if you haven't heard the song, you can have a listen, and even download it, from www.wiaiwya.com...

just shout if you have any questions, and thanks very much

I've decided that Cottonopolis + Promises is probably the best song ever recorded. I made this decision whilst walking to work today.

The whole album get me through the day a work. Shame I can't actually listen to it in the office or have it piped through a PA at everyone. Not that there is anything like that but you get the idea.
Sing as if you live in the early days of a better nation
