I googled sinister but I didn't really know what I was looking for. Thanks anyway.

Is there no love for 'Wrapped up in books' anywhere round here then? I could listen to that song, and sometimes do, at the expense of pretty much everything else they've done (with the possible exception of String Bean Jean)

It was the last great song they ever did, everything after that has been below par
i wouldn't say all that about it, but i like wrapped up in books.

i never officially joined sinister (i couldn't handle the volume of e-mails) but i used to read the archive. i didn't realize it had gotten so quiet.

Speaking of Jeepster (if we were), I thought they went bust and were doing back-catalogue only. Apparently they have two new artists on board...?

Jeepster's Myspace wrote:The great news is that everything has gone to plan and having protected our label from exploitation and successfully maintained our independent status for eleven years now, we are in a position to get back to what we like to do best: releasing records from great new bands. As part of this pledge we are over the moon to announce the signing of our first band in a fair while, the lively and totally enigmatic (with some thoroughly good tunes) SixNationState and the infectious sax/dance indie explosion of Parka. Watch this space!
Dunno about Parka, but SixNationState's album came out a year ago and apart from those two bands there's been no word on anything else.

It's from a Future Pilot AKA record, Sectes From the Clockhouse, on Creeping Bent.

It was also released as a 7" single on Aufgeladen Und Bereit. http://www.discogs.com/release/1113495" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Stuart and Isobel provide vocals and instruments on the album Tiny Waves, Mighty Sea also by Future Pilot AKA. http://www.discogs.com/release/1045005" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just downloaded that. It's good like. Apart from the shouty vocoder bits... is that what Future Pilot AKA usually sound like?

I quite like Belle and Sebastian, but recently my attention was drawn away from them, after reading reviews about a band called 'The Foster Kids'. They are being compared to Belle and Sebastian and the Beautiful South, I have listened to their album which is very good, but not sure I would compare them to Belle and Sebastian. What do others think?

I'm wondering if there's an image out there which would represent a shameless plug.

I like that cover it's pretty nice. I'll probably pick up the record, because I know I like a lot of the covers on there (I've heard many of them over the years) but don't own them.

That said, there probably would have been a time when I would have rushed out and bought a new B&S record the day of release, as soon as the shops opened. These days I don't care when I get it, I'll just pick it up eventually. Don't know if that says more about me or about the band. Probably a bit of both.

I use this 'defence' of a lot of bands, but any band that manages three brilliant records and a couple of merely good ones has far surpassed reasonable expectations, anything else is a bonus.

I'll probably not listen to this, will still go see them live next tour I should think though.

I'm on a train and Chris from B&S has just got on and sat across the aisle from me. Oh, the joys of living in Glasgow. I'm now trying to decide whether to strike up a fanboyish conversation.

I would never have compared the Foster Kids to Belle and Sebastian in a million years! - their melodies are very Beautiful South and the girl/boy vocals are also very Beautiful South, but I can see no comparison to Belle and Sebastian - where did you read the review?

I don't know if that helps your decision in any way but I met someone today whose ex was Chris's flatmate years ago. The fact came up randomly in our conversation because we weren't talking about music or anything. It's a sign!
