WeePOP!

Post by crystalball » Wed Jun 04, 2008 16:03

Here's a thread to talk about this lovely label which started with 3" cd-r releases in beautiful handmade packaging and they're now also going to release 7"s, again with handmade covers. That pop-up scene in the compilation they released recently was all cut and glued by hand, all 130 copies of it!

So I love them for all the effort they put into what they do and also because they release ace records and they're really lovely people.

The Motifs record is my fave!

The packaging is amazing - the handwrittten authentic card, stickers and brown envelope. I love it all.

I've only got one WeePOP! release (The Just Joans' 'Virgin Lips' EP), but yeah, the packaging is ace. It's one of the nicest CDs I've got, I reckon. That's good news that they're going to start doing 7"s too.
Does anyone know who runs the label? I must admit, I know nothing about it.

Spot on. They're ace people and obviously put a lot of effort and love and sparkliness into what they do. I have most (missing a few of the new releases) on WeePop! and they're all stunning little objects.

If you include candy with your mini-CDs you know how to please your customers!

That version of 'Start a one man band!' on the Mexican Kids At Home's 'When we all live in igloos' sounds strangely less exciting than the version I downloaded from MySpace before. Otherwise it's great.

Also, that cute Summer Cats release ('Passion pop') comes with a 'What kind of Cat are you?-fortune teller. I turned out to be a Balinese.

WeePOP! is a little party.

WEEPOP!

Post by Bobby Who? » Mon Sep 15, 2008 19:10

Is there any way I can join some sort of cluby thing and get every CD WEEPOP! release sent to me?

I'm only asking here as:
1. We should all be talking about this record label...they are brilliant!
2. I'm in a net cafe and it won't let me send e-mails for some reason....

Grsat label!!!

I didn't know about it until recently...I met the lovely Camila (she runs WeeePOP!) at the end of Bowlie party....and, must say that I'm impressed.
It's a CDR label, but, despite that, all releases are really well packaged, and have a great aesthetic...in a similar way to those early Sarah 7 inches....

Sadly, a lot of the early releases are now deleted...and judging by the low runs, and the sort of people that would buy them, I doubt that they are going to appear on ebay anytime soon.

You can order from their Website....I don't have the address to hand right nnow, but, if you Google WeePOP!, it's the first thing that comes up....

i love weePOP! - their dedication to keeping it simple and fun is awesome. all their releases I've heard so far have been totally endearing. I am biased, but also feel lucky to be part of the weepop family.

They are very artist-friendly! Camila and Thor are two of the kindest kids we met!

yow!

I'm thrilled as a listener that there is such a lovely flood of awesome indiepop coming out on a lot of little labels here (your here, not mine) and in the states and around the world lately!

being nice IS a political act!

They are terrific little works of art, to be honest. I love getting them, and really appreciate the effort put into them. I don't love every release, some can be too "twee" for my liking, but they've done some brilliant releases. The Just Joans, Bunnygrunt, Summer Cats and Jacob Borshard are my favourites. Jacob's is absolutely lovely, and still available, so I should go straight to the weepop site and buy it if I were you!

Yes! The Jacob EP is one of my favourite WeePOP releases, if only for the cover of Kokomo. Everyone needs to get the new Lorimer Sound release too which is just wonderful.

I love WeePOP, theres a couple of the early ones i missed out on, but i always make sure to pick the new ones up now.
and that snare drum, that drum roll
means we've got a winner

I reckon they should put out full labum compilations after every so many singles (Sarah records did so after every 16), both for the people that missed out on deleted stuff, and, because they would make great compilations :)

I've only played it twice so far, but I think I can already say: that The Lorimer Sound mini album is brilliant.

I ordered it on the strenght of that cover. It should be waiting for me when I get home tonight. Choo-choo. Er, I'm glad it's also a good record, of course.

I listened to all my Weepop records yesterday evening whilst attempting to get them on to my computer.

I've decided that the 'Virgin Lips' ep by The Just Joans and 'Matches' by The Motifs are my favoutrites. The girl from the Motifs is killing me, her voice is perfect.

The Megamoog ep is great too - who's coming to see her play in London tomorrow night?

I'm proud to be a Weepop supporter!

The Lorimer Sound ep is fantastic - anyone else think that 'Notre Chanson en Francais' sounds so much like something Cinerama would do?

They had me when they started putting 2 sweets in the envelopes so my daughters didn't have to argue over who got it or I had to cut one in half with a stanley knife

It's about trust being built. I trust them not to sell me things I don't like and 90% of the time I'm more than happy - good odds by the way. I reckon I can spot a weepop badge from 50 paces. I spotted someone wearing one at the End of the Road Festival recently and meant to speak to them about it but I was in a queue for the toilet so...it never happened.

More Jacob Borshard, The Darlings/Allo' Darlin' and Desmond Reed please
