If you speed Stock Aitken Waterman's slow songs up they sound exactly like Stock Aitken Waterman's fast songs.

Hello Phil. Do you ever see Chris Nineham these days? I saw him in Manchester last Saturday, doing the usual.

I haven't seen Chris in over 20 years! My brother had contact with him, as they were both in the SWP. But then Chris got my brother expelled from the SWP for his promotion of "elitist" music!

Phil, what's that guitar you play on those 1985-86 shows we can see on youtube?

I think it was a Gibson of some sort....It was definitely stolen from me after a gig in Manchester, and was un-insured. Boo hoo...

That's too bad. It sounded alright. I've had a bag full of cables and mics stolen once, but no guitars.

I haven't seen Chris in over 20 years!
Well, if you wanted to get back in touch I can pass on his mobile number if you want it. We're not best buddies or anything, but we both share the same politics in a sense (though I disagree entirely with his efforts to expel your brother from the SWP!)

Thanks, Toni, but "No thanks"! Can't forgive him for his part in expelling my brother. It really upset him, and was quite brutal.

No worries. But if ever you change your mind, make your way down to the next Stop the War demo and look out for a lanky official at the front geeing up the crowd. Chris has done an incredible amount of good work for Stop the War and Military Families Against the War, and so it's sad for me to hear about previous misdemeanours. Ah well, we've all done bad things.

Enough of politics...This is a music forum! :)

My new band (the first one I've had in 20 years) are playing our debut in Oxford this Friday - it would be lovely if some of you turned up.

It's at the Exeter Hall, 1 Oxford Road, OX4 2EN, and costs a paltry £4.

Also playing that night will be:

The Repeats: http://www.myspace.com/therepeatsuk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Megamoog: http://www.myspace.com/megamoog" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and,

Alphabet Backwards: http://www.myspace.com/alphabetbackwards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

See you there?

Phil

In fact, it would be lovely if anyone turned up...especially anyone who was vaguely interested in indiepop music...Are you?

If I didn't have to rely on public transport I would be there :(

One more thing, I have a new single out today!

It's Round 2 in my covers project. This one being "Pop!", and features covers of The Cure, Felt, The Field Mice and Belle & Sebastian.

It can be ordered, for only £2 in the UK, from This Almighty Pop. http://www.thisalmightypop.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Round 3, "New Wave", will be out later in the year on Edition 59: http://www.myspace.com/edition59" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Actually, it's easier for me to make it to gigs in the Midlands, so if you're gigging in the vicinity be sure to let us know!

It's not my leaving do, thankfully, otherwise I'd be struggling to pay for records and gas bills and other essentials. ;)
