Model Village

Post by carney » Fri Jul 22, 2011 14:29

I'm going to start a topic on my own band. Lame, eh?

Regardless, we are Model Village, the South & East's #1 success-free supergroup. We play adult orientated pop for your mind and body.

NEWS
  • INDIETRACKS - we are playing at it - yes! 2:45 on the main stage. Be dazzled by our slick showpersonship and full-size 6-human line-up
  • MINI CD EP - should you attend said Indietracks then you will be amongst the first to be able to purchase our new 3" CD EP featuring several hits. You may wish to check it out here: http://towedbytheghost.bandcamp.com/alb ... village-ep
Our split 7" with the lovely Puncture Repair Kit is still available - "Splendid stuff" said Oddbox. Spend your money on it here: http://towedbytheghost.bandcamp.com/album/split-7

Discuss among yourselves...

...or not.

Thought I'd give a quick pre-Indietracks bump, particularly as I didn't say that we're playing on the SUNDAY at 2:45, on the main stage. Check some tunes out here - http://modelvillage.bandcamp.com/ - and then come and say hello, if you like. We're dead excited!

Hello. We now have one of those tumblrs that everyone's going mad about. Here it is http://modelvillagethepopgroup.tumblr.com/

Secondly, any London folks fancy putting us on at all? We're a bit restricted in our movements at the moment due to a couple of the band not being certain about where their Uni placements are going to take them, but we can hit London almost any night you choose. We've only played the capital 3 times this year, and one of those gigs was a bit bobbins, so let's do something about that, eh? Cheers!

Morning all.

It's December, so Christmas talk is allowed, right? As such, please help yourself to a free download of Model VIllage's bid for the festive #1, "Next Xmas". It's got sleigh bells and no Cliff Richard.

Got some very pleasing gigs coming up too, if you like that kind of thing:
  • 11th Dec @ The Junction, Cambridge w/ The Lemonheads!
  • 12th Jan @ The King & Queen, London W1 - w/ MJ Hibbett + Elizabeth Morris
  • 20th Jan - The Portland Arms, Cambridge - w/ Standard Fare + Tigercats
  • 21st Jan - Green Door Store, Brighton - w/ Standard Fare

New split EP out any day from Model Village and Indonesian group Lipstik Lipsing. Our songs Perfect Scale Replica and Hang Ups Goodbye will feature heavily.

It's coming out on Dufflecoat Records, and we should have copies at our gigs in Cambridge and Brighton this weekend (see previous post).

Hurrah, etc.

This EP is now officially 'out'. You can stream our contribution to it at http://modelvillage.bandcamp.com/album/split-cdep

We're looking to try and play some gigs in April and May, if anyone would be interested in that sort of thing.

You'll all be delighted to know that a Model Village album is being released at the end of next month. "A Solution To Everything" is a collection of tunes that have previously seen light all over the shop on various singles, splits, compilations, etc. now all handily sequenced as a full-length record.

Image

If you go to our bandcamp site you can stream the whole thing: http://modelvillage.bandcamp.com If you like what you hear, a couple of the tunes can be downloaded for free, or you can buy the whole lot as a download or CD. The CD is going to be mega-limited and packaged in a lovely letterpressed sleeve, hand-pressed by the excellent Little Red Press in Salford. Imagine that image above, but even better!

To tie in with this, we're going to be playing a few gigs, in what is nothing like a tour. One of the gigs is even ages before the record is released, which is careless. They are as following:

31st Mar - CB1 Cafe, CAMBRIDGE - w/ Fuzzy Lights
5th May - St Paul’s Church, CAMBRIDGE - w/ Slow Club
10th May - The Windmill Brixton, LONDON SW2 - w/ The Barr Brothers
13th May - The Labour Club, NORTHAMPTON - w/ The Lovely Eggs
19th May - The Sun Inn, WATERBEACH, Cambs

Maybe we'll see you at one of those?

Let's have a quick bump to remind you that our album comes out a week today. Order in advance, before the postal rates go up! You can check some nice images of the process of the sleeves being handpressed at Little Red Press's blog http://littleredpress.tumblr.com/asolution

Hello everyone. A new Model Village album is on the horizon, coming out on Little Red Rabbit Records in Jan 2013. Featuring 10 solid gold hits all packaged up in a hand letterpress printed sleeve, with illustrations by Allo Darlin's Paul Rains.

Go to this page to download the opening tune for free - or even order the whole thing: http://www.littleredrabbit.co.uk/releases/LRR041.html

We're playing some 'launch gigs' in Jan
  • 9th Jan - Cambridge, Portland Arms (with Mammoth Penguins)
  • 11th Jan (lunchtime) - Bishop's Stortford, Moon Unit Records
  • 11th Jan (evening) - London, Brixton Windmill (with The Understudies)
Plus, we're sorting out a bit more of a tour in Feb. Drop us a line if you'd like us to play in your town...
