An ex Mayfield playing Bristol this week

Post by Wiggy » Mon Nov 25, 2013 10:27

Apologies if promoting gigs here is not the done thing;

Bob Taylor (ex glockenspiel and keyboards for The Mayfields and retro garage band The Nuthin's) and Tim Kerley (ex drummer with The Badgeman) are bringing their psych/alt-country band The Marlboro County Fair to play at The Grain Barge in Bristol on Fri 29th November (on early supporting Crowhailer - liked by Cerys Matthews I believe). It's just £5 to get in, and should be a good night.
Here's what they sound like;

Ok, the faux yank accents are a bit much, but this is a pretty good band.
I know this is not an alt-country forum, but I seem to remember bands like The Razorcuts and The Triffids going a little bit like this, so it may interest some of you here.
Cheers,
x

...and sounding a lot better than a lot of the bands plugged on here too!

Nice to see Bob still making music! I'd come along but Bristol's a bit of a way away for me these days.

Bob and Tim haven't really stopped making music, although Bobs bowl haircut is long gone!
Nice of you say the songs are good - how they've managed to not get anywhere over the last 5 years is beyond me, but I suppose it's that middle aged family blokes in a small town sort of thing - other priorities and all that.
There's genuine indie pedigree here though and I reckon anyone who makes it along on friday will see a good gig. Feel free to pass the link on to anyone who might like them.
Be nice to catch up some time Ian - let me know if yr gigging in Bristol or Salisbury.

Good stuff Wiggy! Cheers for the update. Just checked out Marlboro County Fair's Facebook page to see how Bob is!
