That must be fake. There is no way you'd catch Morrissey making himself look like a right twat waving a flag.
And we just can't wait to make more mistakes and to fluff our breaks, and to stuff our faces with cake.

Can anyone still stand to listen to Morrissey? Can anyone still separate the music from the person?

They played Last of the Famous International Playboys on the radio yesterday and I had to turn it off. I can't hear Morrissey at all any more without feeling betrayed and stupid and furious.

In my more melodramatic, self-pitying (and, hey, Morrisseyesque) moments I feel like the defining experience of my generation has been nothing more than a sequence of betrayals and letdowns. Morrissey has become another item in the sequence, and probably the most devastating one of all. Sometimes it feels like ten or 15 years of my life were meaningless.

Still, at least we had the redemption of indiepop.

Yes. Although he makes it easier by having recorded practically bugger all of compelling interest in the last few years. The pre 'Oh shit, he's actually a bigoted dick' material doesn't trip my switches, for whatever reason.

That being said, it's a personal thing, innit? And when he opened his mouth to declare that Anne Marie Waters had been cheated out of the UKIP leadership by a massive PC conspiracy, I did find myself thanking my stars that my alcohol-drenched teenage misanthropy was soundtracked by Mark Eitzel and Paul Westerberg. If either of those two turns out to be a wrong 'un, you'll be able to snap my heart in two like a dry twig.
