Thee Oh Sees/Oh Sees/OCS and related

Post by ian » Wed Feb 07, 2018 10:20 am

Anyone here like the Oh Sees? I first saw them live in 2016 and now I seem to listen to hardly anyone else. I'm very slowly working my way through their 20 album back catalogue.

"Floating Coffin" is my favourite so far, but I've only got six of their LPs, so tons to go yet. I've just bought "Castlemania", so slowly working my way through that. Here's the tweepop opener from that record.

Sticks hand up.

Been buying records by them for about 10-12 years now. Not a completist by a long shot though. Never been lucky enough to catch them live, either.

I'm trying to take my time with them, and give each record the time and space it deserves. And I'm charting an odd path through their discography. So far I've got, in order of listening/buying:

Floating Coffin
Mutilator Defeated at Last
Drop
Orc
Memory Of A Cut Off Head
Castlemania

I've listened to stuff online, so I've heard Master's Bedroom and a few others, but don't have them yet. MB seems to be out of print, but being reprinted again in March.

I am terrible with album names, I know I have a 7" (possibly a few 7s) from years ago.

I know I have 'Warm Slime', Singles Comp (vol1&2), The Master's Bedroom, Drop, Floating Coffin and I know there at least 3 or 4 more but I am not at home at the moment to check. I have to admit I don't know all of the albums intimately but I do play them fairly regularly.

I bought Help the other day. It's fantastic - one of the stronger ones. Really love Ruby Go Home.
