ver Kinney on Letterman last night. Note Katie from Sky Larkin at the back, and Carrie still in high-kicking form.

Nice to see Letterman weighing in with a controversial opinion on this matter from the top of the thread.

Don't think the song's as good as the other singles. It all still feels a bit monumental though.

Edit - Only just occurred to me that there was bound to be a stream of the album up by now:

Just listened to the first song and it's brill!

Apparently the most hated video on the internet, judging by the comments I've had the misfortune to read, on the grounds that this is: just a video of their famous friends/just a video of their famous friends who aren't famous enough/evidence that Sleater-Kinney are awful now/evidence that Sleater-Kinney have always been awful/evidence that Gerard Way looks like a little boy and or 'a lesbian', etc

"All the women in this video look like they don't shave their pits."

I guess you should never read the comments

Look it's Fred Armisen! Ellen Page! Norman Reedus! Sarah Silverman! J Mascis! Miranda July! Andy Samberg! Evan Rachel Wood! and so on and so on- what's not to love?

I have to buy this album, if Daryl from The Walking Dead digs his free copy that's enough for me, like I give a shit what a bunch of no marks who make comments on the internet think

So what do people reckon? I think it's a pretty good record. Y'know, it sounds like an album released by a rock group. Reminds me a bit of Wild Flag, anyone remember them?

2 listens so far, albeit whilst making dinner last night so havent heard it properly - The download code isnt active until today due to the US release date which scuppered my plans for the work commute this morning.

I like what i've heard though,i'll be very surprised if it isnt amongst my favourite albums at the end of the year. Bury Your Friends was the only song i'd heard prior to yesterday and that was only a couple of listens when it first appeared.

Wild Flag were great, it's a shame (sort of) that they only did one album. I really like the Ex Hex album as well, a little more power pop than the others and i guess quite disposable, but it's a good listen.

Was just now motivated to listen to it all the way through and I think it's good as well. I agree that it's very much a rock album - Corin Tucker's voice is always very rawk, I think anyway. The one thing missing is a 'Leave You Behind'-style tearjerker, but what's there sounds great. Any criticism I've seen seems to be of the 'I don't like it that everyone else likes them and they've got famous mates' variety, which I always tend to think is bullshit.

Destined to be known as 'No Cit-ays to Love', surely.

Very much fallen for this now, i've averaged a couple of listens a day so far this week and it easily stands up to their old records. It's also convinced me that all albums should be 10 tracks long.

Another one to add to that short list of bands who can come back and be as good, if not better than their previous incarnation.

Heres every song they've released ranked in order - not something i really believe needs to be done, and of course it's all subjective - 1 of my favourites didn't even break the top 100.

Interesting read though and if i wonder how listening to them in that order would go?

Really looking forward to seeing them play live this week - revisiting this thread has put me even more in the mood for this :-)

I have heard really good things about their tour so far. Generally try to avoid reading setlists from their gigs so far - doesn't stop me from still being *really* curious about what they will play - and be tempted to have a peek at said setlists. I might still..!

Ah, you were there too? Didn't see you :-(

*Spoiler alert

They played a long setlist, didn't they! I can't think of many bands that I have seen who have played more songs.

Emphasis firmly on latest album - but also The Woods. Reckon they made 60% of Setlist.

None off 2 of their albums, only 1 track off another, and 3 apiece from each of the other3 albums.

But especially if folk like The Woods and No Cities to Love then they're in for a treat.

But generally a really good Setlist, as you said :-)

Well the Manchester gig pretty much kicked the London one into touch. Probably my favourite gig of the year so far.

Partly the nicer venue (imo), and a much better crowd & atmosphere (again, subjective), which the band seemed to really respond to.

Slightly different setlist - they played 2 of my favourite S-K songs this time - including my absolute favourite - so very happy with that!

Again, there was a fair few Anorak/ Indietracks folk there. This time actually bumped into some of the lovely folk formerly in Ace Bushy. :-)

If the Glasgow gig tonight even matches the Manchester one then that will be hugely impressive.

Yip - Glasgow a-go-go!

Also excited about it! I like the ABC1 venue - and am glad there're playing there.

Hope you're settling in well north of the border btw :-)

Well Glasgow did pretty much match Manchester!

Glasgow had the best set list - and I thought a slightly better sound..

Manchester, the best venue and possibly crowd, I think.

Thrilled that they played 'Little Babies' and 'You're No Roll and Roll Fun', which they didn't play in either Manchester or London.

Also so nice to see so many familiar faces from Glasgow and Edinburgh there - about 95% of the similar-gig-going folk from up here, I would think!

It's been a unalloyed joy to have been able to see S-K play over the last few days, I have to say.
