kind of wish it came across as more of a band & less of a vehicle (members of circus lupus, the quails & unwound = serious pedigree). "doubt" sounds good, though.

heavens to betsey were great. so were excuse seventeen.

That's not bad, I was worried she'd go down a folky direction. I don't love it but the album might be a good-un.

After the shitiest day ever at work, this news is just what I needed.
I'll have to listen to the Corin Tucker album too. "Doubt" sounds good.

I keep trying to convince my wife she should join me and a few friends in a Riot Grrrl band featuring three (bad) guitarists and no bass. The logic is that none of us can play as well as the Sleater kinney girls so we need more guitars to make up for our massive skill shortage. On the other hand we can all 'not play bass' as well as anyone in Sleater kinney, so why would we need a bassist?

This is normally her cue to call a taxi because I've drunk too much.

I literally cannot stop being excited about this. Reading Pitchfork's interview with Janet Weiss the other week only made me more excited. I can't wait for their 7".

I'm daring to get excited about Wild Flag too. I liked reading that Janet Weiss interview because it's really cool to hear that she and Carrie are so energised and excited to be making music together again. For all that I loved Sleater-Kinney and don't think that they made a bad album, I felt like a lot of the joy was sucked out of the whole band towards the end.

Has anyone heard the Corin Tucker album? I've been putting it off because I'm not convinced by Riley that it's something I will enjoy.

Corin's album is generally good but trails off a little in places. Definitely worth a listen though.

I just watched this video of Carrie and Janet's new band (also featuring Mary Timony and Rebecca Cole), Wild Flag, playing in Olympia. They sound great! I can't wait for their album (supposedly coming out on Merge in 2011.)

EDIT: Apparently the embedded video isn't working/showing up. You can view the video here: http://vimeo.com/16735858

this stuff sounds GREAT to me

like Sleater-Kinney with solos, only better than when S-K actually tried that idea out themselves

Sorry for the bump, but just found this and this is amazing!

Btw, what are everyone's favourite Sleater-Kinney songs? I love The Woods and Dig Me Out but I don't really know much of their other stuff.

my favourite S-K song is probably Start Together off The Hot Rock, but All Hands On The Bad One, Little Babies, Words And Guitar and You're No Rock'N'Roll Fun are all up there

Corin's new album is awesome - superfun, much better than her (nice enough) debut... and i think i like it more than the Wild Flag lp too.

so awesome to hear her rocking out again

Yeah it's a very emotional song. There's not many bands with songs about the end of a relationship between two band members, and there's even fewer with songs about the end of a relationship between two same-sex band members. A brilliant song.

I usually have a favourite S-K song every few months (because they have so many great songs of course. At the moment my favourite is probably The Swimmer.
