Lana Del Rey is the prime minister's current favourite music purveyor, apparently. I wonder if someone did him a focus group to decide who to say he liked.

Lana Del Rey needs a slap and a copy of The Female Eunuch. Her song lyrics are about the most depressing expression of the experience of being a woman I've ever heard.

This

He should stick to expressing views on subjects that he knows something about, like wanking.
I chuckled.

That is all, please carry on.

Open question to whomever:

Are Mike and Andy underrated or do they deserve to be known as little more than session men who got lucky?

If The Smiths hadn't come along then I doubt we'd ever have heard of them. I recently posted this on facebook though and suggested that the bass part was superior to the guitar...

Anyone else going to the Manchester show in July? I had a minor breakdown this morning and bought two tickets.

I am drunk and listening to I Know It's Over.

It is heartbreaking, still. I will never not love The Smiths. It takes guts to be gentle and kind.

I don't suppose anyone fancies a jaunt to the Smiths / Moz disco in Manc later in the year? Maybe November or December? None of my Manc friends will go I doubt.

I think it's the first Fri of every month. I'll have to leave it until nearer the time to find out if I can actually go though! I've not been in years.

Gosh, I always used to go when I was still up North. Get there early - there's always a huge queue to get in these days.

Last time we went (last year), as we approached this lad with a textbook mancunian accent was walking past and he warned us 'don't go in there - they only play Morrissey and The Smiths'.

In my youth, The Smiths WAS Morrissey/Marr for me, and Rourke/Joyce were sadly just extras. They aren't anymore. Rourke's basslines are as brilliant as Marr's guitar. He looks so relaxed on the videos playing, but the basslines are so complex, - always changing. After being pissed off more than once lately by Morrissey's big mouth, and not very excited about what Marr has done the recent years either, I guess Rourke is my favourite Smiths now. Probably until he opens his mouth or releases something... probably...

I hope they never reform.

Saw Morrissey last Tuesday in Milano, my hometown, he is still extremely charismatic and stylish, and his songs have still big emotional impact. When he performed I Know It's Over, I almost cried.
