Isn't it an addictive song?
Not quite new, but still very good:

Liechtenstein - Stalking skills

On top of that as a bonus, they're not unpleasant to look at:

Yep. That single by the Dollymixturemodetteslitsassistants is one of the years finest. Enjoyed their live dates as well.

The Compute remix here is also very good.

There are two great Colin Clary songs here.

Colin Clary writes lots of good pop songs and is involved in lots of amazing pop bands like the Smittens and is the most enthusiastic person ever. He bounced around right at the front of nearly every set at Athens Popfest and his songs make me very happy. And just look at his rosy cheeks!

I completely love Mixtape On My Mind. Twee pop songs with AC/DC bits in? \m/
the trouble with personalities, they're too wrapped up in style
it's too personal; they're in love with their own guile

By no means is this new or anything, and I'm no indie pop revolutionary guru type, but here is a link to some pretty, pretty songs by Dear Nora. I think Katy Davidson has a few fans here already, but I was just thinking about her because she's playing here with CFTPA next month, which is very, very, very, exciting, because her last release was said to be her final.

So there's four songs here, and I think "Since You Went Away" is one of the prettiest, most perfect things I've ever heard, and I imagine it might appeal to fans of the Aislers Set.

And maybe buy something if you like it. Magic Marker sends fun stuff with orders.

Dear Nora

Yes! It's one of my favourite handful of songs of the last 10 years.

Yes! 'Since You Went Away' is such a great song. That whole album is wonderful actually, I play it all the time. Not sure about the second one though, it was a bit too emo for my liking. But yay, Dear Nora.

On some other thread we were talking about The Mo-dettes and I keep meaning to post the link to their Peel session which is online. Here it is now. It's kinda punky guitar pop - of its time, yes, but quite lovely.

Black Swan Network / Flash Card Orchestra

http://southernshelter.com/2008/03/blac ... 22308.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

some info: http://opticalatlas.com/?p=1028" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They didn’t play as BSN instead they played as “The Flash Card Orchestra.” Bill Doss conducted a group of 15-20 people including Andrew Rieger, Pete Erchick, BP Helium, Eric Harris, John Fernandes, Heather McIntosh, Davey Wrathgaber, David Specht, and a bunch of Dark Meat folks. Other people in the room at the time who might have been on stage include Derek Almstead, Scott Spillane, Dottie Alexander, and Jamey Huggins. Four people who were in the room but were definitely not on stage were Jeff Mangum, Jimmy Hughes, JoeJustJoe and myself.

The idea was Bill would show a flashcard to the band and they would act out whatever the flashcard said. There were different sections of the band, so they would start and stop at different times. For example, one of the flashcards said something along the lines of insects buzzing in the springtime and everyone would act that out for 30 seconds or so.

Oh, I listened to that tune a couple of times and at first, I couldn't get over the guy's voice being a bit Paul Williams* but it's really a fun and pretty little tune, isn't it? The production is great--so many subtle little touches richly layered.

Me gusto MUCHO the Laborador label. I've wanted this for ages, but it ain't cheap. I will undoubtedly cave one day when I'm drunk and perusing the Web, because it's actually a bargain for 100 songs, even if I already have some of them.
