Belle & Sebastian were on something unlikelyish Sunday night. Celebrity Come Dine With Me maybe? I wasn't really paying attention.

Not actually them. Their music.

I'd like it if they were on it.

I thought that was a B&S song that Tom O'Connor was playing.

The Hidden Cameras!

I caught a glimpse of this horrible Hollywood movie, 'Cake', yesterday:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0413879/
A travel writer (Heather Graham) who begrudgingly assumes control of her father's wedding magazine finds the new experience might just change her take on love.
I would have skipped to the next channel immedeately, were it not that under the wedding photoshoot-scene that was going on I heard these words:

"It is the smell of old cum on the rug men walk their dirty feet on and the
sweat from the chest of a man in a leather uniform
Happy are we when we choose to wear the blindfold and mark our own place with
the smell of our own"

What?! is what I thought. The whole song too, loud and clear.

It's a 2005 movie, so everyone probably knew this already.

I am making or breaking indiepop bands every day here! Throw me a bung and I'll get your band into that all important Gaelic tv market.
I've used a ton of Camera Obscura. I'm sure I deserve free tickets for the tour with the fortune I've made them in fees!
Oh man, if you could get A Fine Day For Sailing on something that'd make our lifetime.

I was about to post they've been on there a couple of times before when, searching for evidence, I found a mini-episode not only including Suitcase but also the Blanche Hudson Weekend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYdckP7lxD8

That show has won big awards and its spinoff is using the Blanche Hudson Weekend? Have we fallen through a wormhole?

not for the first time either, that's possibly the third time in three series, not that I watch 'waterloo road' a lot but any chance to hear 'our bands' on mainstream telly, etc

I was quite chuffed when I first heard them on there, I hope they do alright from it, it'd be nice to think some old dear who switches on 'waterloo road' for her weekly tut at today's youth/modern teachers might think 'that's nice' and go and buy their records/go to their gigs

I know I do

"Another Likely Story" by Au Revoir Simone has been featured twice in "Covert Affairs TV show. At least, I think it was the same song both times.

If you really want to get on the telly then the big tip is to write an instrumental! There's a reason you hear the same songs (Moby, Sigur Ros, Yann Tiersen etc.) over and that's because, apart from laziness, they don't have any of those annoying words that distract you from people speaking. If not an instrumental then at least have a long intro! So many songs seem perfect until some bugger starts singing! The big top 40 acts very often even supply entirely instrumental versions of their songs to use in this way and I was very pleasantly surprised on Friday to discover that you can even get the whole of CO's Let's Get Out of This Country in instrumental form.
Sadly for the BBC you also have to combine that with being on a record label that's part of the blanket agreement for music use. I'm not sure how wide it goes these days (Fortuna Pop! are on there, which is nice) but it immediately stops a lot of smaller bands getting used. Big shows like Waterloo Road probably specifically hire people to find and license music which is why they can play stuff like Standard Fare and Blanche Hudson Weekend.

Not exactly indiepop, but I was quite surprised to hear 'Blue Light' by Bloc Party and something by the Kings of Convenience (Failure?) as background music on The Voice UK earlier. Considering the competition-sing off-battle-bollocks was awash with Lady GaGa and heinous power ballads I thought it was an unlikely juxtaposition.

"Laundry Shop", by the band 'fuck', was featured in the episode of How I Met Your Mother that was on E4 just now.

Weird.
