Albums you wish existed that don't or maybe can't
I've always wondered what an Elvis Presley new wave album would have sounded like.
Also, I really wish Stephin Merritt would do a Christmas album with The 6ths.
I'm not a Nirvana fan but I do find the rumors that Kurt and Michael Stipe were planning on doing an album together interesting.

A Northern Picture Library live album with Annemari performing on it. Worsening stage fright had ended her career as a live singer and musician by the time of NPL, which is a shame. Come to think of it, I don't think (m)any bootlegs of NPL minus Annemari exist either, do they?

An Elvis Presley new wave album would have been amazing! I wished the Rolling Stones would have taken their heads out of the coke bag long enough to embrace punk rock. Maybe it would have sounded like this:

Not exactly an album, but I wish Django Reinhardt had lived longer. I would have liked to have heard what he would have recorded in the 60s. Even though he's remembered mostly for his early "gypsy jazz" sound, by the 50s he was fully embracing bebop, so it's interesting to think of what recordings he would have done with post-bop, modal jazz, free jazz, jazz fusion, etc.

I just read that John Coltrane was supposed to collaborate with Ravi Shankar in 1967, but he died before it could happen. I would really like to have that record.
Wait, this is a forum for fans of jazz music, right?

Also, I had a dream the other night that I had discovered an album from the 90s which was a collaboration between a (nameless) noise rock band and Jerry Garcia. Not something I necessarily think would sound good, but apparently my id thinks it sounds amazing.

I wonder just how bad John Lennon's 80's output would have been.
I wish R.E.M. would have recorded an album with Brian Eno. Not sure why.

I want Jens Lekman to release a full album of Jonathan Richman covers.
