This is a fine thing, out properly next month (the vinyl's been delayed, no really)

Their singles are quite shoegazey, mbv-wall of noise sort of things (although very poppy as well), but this is really quite jangly in places, a bit of a Sarah influence, lots of Cocteaus as well (something not heard as often as it should be in my opinion). Much more than the sum of it's influences though, I was really looking forward to this and haven't been let down.

Two albums and two 7" singles (ultimate extravagance!) later, this is all rather in tatters. Ah well, they'll look pretty at least. This is the first one to turn up anyway and it's rather good.
Two of my friends are in the Drink. Pretty decent effort, I never thought they had it in them.

Has no-one talked about how lovely and warm and generally life-affirming the new Nat Johnson album is yet? What's wrong with you people?

Been feeling very Broadcast/Focus Group-y recently, and find myself astonished that I've missed these until now

Love this song. Love Plush. Liam is so underrated. Been following him since I moved to Chicago.

Star Tropics, Star Tropics and Star Tropics over again.

No mention of them on Anorak previously, save for one nomination to play Indietracks 2014 that I'd overlooked; so thanks to the venerable Indie Pop Saved My Life feed on Facebook for directing me to them good and proper this time.

Unquestionably my favourite janglepop discovery since The Royal Landscaping Society.

Oh my that is GOOD!

I've been listening to this new thing on Soft Power, Binaries. Got one of those big echoey drum machines on it that sounds like "Treasure" era Cocteau Twins, but it's a bit more obviously pop than that suggests. 'Tis rather good as well.

Broadcast and The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age (went to the record store today to scoop the reissues of my favorites [Haha Sound and Noise Made By People] but they were gone already. Glad they had this though, cause it's dope like soap on a rope.)

My Bloody Valentine - Kiss The Eclipse: EPs 1986-1987.

Witching Waves - Fear of Falling Down (sick! Worth the overseas shipping)

Eel/Pissbath - split 7" (fuck yeah)

The Carousel - I Forgot To Remember To Forget (it's fucking snowing and I listen to this record when it snows)

Velvet Underground - VU (good music, but not good VU)

Yeah, I got 'Tender Buttons' myself, I was tempted by 'HaHa Sound' but it was 20 quid and I hate spending more money on records than I might have been conceivably fleeced out of for CDs in the '90s. "Witch Cults" is tempting though, very much an album to listen to right through in one go. Anyway, on a connected note (sleeve by Julian House also), I saved my money and bought The Soundcarriers instead, which is really good, a lot less 'easy listening' than they used to be:

I wasn't sure you'd bother with you being in the US. God bless the dwindling Euro!

Indeed Pete! I think he was in London in January? He put out an album called Slurrup then. Back to basics, 3 piece band style record.
