Outfit of the Day

Post by Sylvie » Wed Oct 10, 2007 9:19 am

What are you wearing today, then?

I'm wearing a crew neck mossy green jumper, black knee length a-line skirt, black fishnets, black fake crocodile skin knee boots and homemade leopard print headband (and Mary Quant coat on the way to work).
Just be nice to me.

i was wearing: black ribbed tights with black just-on-the-knee black boots, with my new super low back top from topshop, which is LOVELY, i feel like a ballerina but in a good way. really feminine.

and then i had a denim skirt that is in a really blue solid colour of denim so it sort of looks more like a random blue mini skirt.

cream a-line coat, smoky eyes and a red bag that as i predicted broke, haha.

I'm wearing a pink cable knit jumper, black shorts with little turnups and a button on the side, black wool tights (kind of spotty holes in them), slightly pointy black pumps and a black & white spotty bow hairband.

I think it's one of those outfits where I either look great or like an idiot. I can't decide which.
Just be nice to me.

It sounds like you look great!

I am wearing dark grey cotton tights, finely ribbed ones. I was wearing my just-on-the-knee black boots before, but no more as I'm indoors.

A flowery dress, with a square neckline that I like, with a black cashmere v-neck on top. And a trenchcoat and pearl earrings.

I feel Tuesday good today for uni. Ridiculously giddy and have had one of those days so far where I've had tons of fun. trying on clothes. I ended up wearing:
Black cropped tux style jacket with gold buttons: H&M
Flower hair clip on lapel of jacket: Accessorize
Peach cotton top with origami-like ruffles around the neckline: Primark
Navy jersey skirt: H&M
Tights: H&M
Soundtrack to feelgood day: Ne-Yo - Miss Independent
I feel like the line "'Cause she walk like a boss/Talk like a boss" when I'm wearing little jackets, they always make me feel so great and like I've power dressed, haha.
Ok, ego post over.

Your outfit sounds cool, let it ride! I love when an outfit makes me feel a tad more confident.

As for me, I'm at work, except no one cares what I wear (I work at Goodwill). So I try to look businesslike yet casual. It's a delicate balance, I know...I've got on:
Sneakers (Onitsuka Tigers, purple with silver stripes)
Jeans that are way too long and awkwardly cuffed (William Rast via Nordstrom Rack)
A long-sleeved, collared shirt with white, tan, and brown stripes (Gant via Loehmann's, my favorite store)
A maroon sweater-vest with a pattern that's sort of like argyle but not (H&M)
A plaid jacket that's sort of black and red (DKNY also via Loehmann's)

And to mess everything up, I have a huge messenger bag that says "Bag of bubbles" and has pictures of bubbles all over it.

I can't believe I'm not wearing anything from Goodwill...better work on that...

I'm in the fortunate position in my new job (library database manager for a university) that nobody is too bothered what I wear, either, which makes a nice change.

I still like to look like I've made some sort of effort, though, so it usually ends up being a smart-ish t-shirt, black jacket and trousies (or dark jeans) and some nicely polished-up DMs. Today's tee is a new acqusition commemorating the Half Moon Pub in Hitchin (my local until last month) being awarded Hertfordshire CAMRA's Pub Of The Year award for 2010 - nice dark blue tee with a big white and yellow half moon on it. They'll be cooing over that in the Kelham Island Tavern later, I reckon.

All of that, along with the glasses and hair, probably makes me look like an economy Ed Byrne, but it's still several rungs up the sartorial ladder from most fellow IT / database troglodytes in similar roles the country over. So it'll do for me.

I've always liked the dress-code stipulation at Google's offices worldwide - "We don't mind. Just wear something". Not great news for naturists, but pretty fab otherwise!

Black t-shirt over lighweight grey long-sleeved tee.
Very, very dark blue jeans.
Black blazer.
Black DMs with brown soccer-boot laces.

That's all.

Oh, apart from the gasmask.
