In what? In hammer pants? Oops, I'm sorry, I mean harem (shall we get into how inappropriate that name is?) pants? There was a woman in them at Tesco the other day and we were aghast. It's nigh on impossible to believe they in fashion.

I want pretty much everything from Edith & Ella - I discovered the shop in Copenhagen and bought the red vest top, skirt and green versions of the shoes. I can't decide whether or not to order more stuff, as it's totally gorgeous.

i knooow! i want all of their stuff, and esp. that skirt you're showing, in that colour-combination, or the blue-pale pink one. i'm pretty sure i might be lucky we don't get their stuff over here, or i would be ruined, that's something that's for certain.

I'm sort of wishing I'd gotten the blue skirt with the blue stripey top instead... but the pink one matched the tights I was wearing at the time. Decision made.

i'm starting to build an idea of my look for autumn and what i want and the key stuff i want to get, to go with what i have and complement it. although to be honest, it's mostly make-up so far.

Me too! It looks like it's Zooey Deschanel's favourite clothing line too. They don't have stockist information though, sadly.

there's a 70% sale at edith & ella, not that it makes it *cheap* of course, but still...

Urgh, I'm sorting out my wardrobe (prompted by a Glamour article - yes I am that easy to convince, and yes, my wardrobe was taking up about 70% of the bedroom) and it is a bit depressing.

I'm being really honest with myself as in: Am I too big for this? Will I likely lose weight soon enough to keep it? And the answer is overwhelmingly yes followed by a no. But I'm taking pictures and setting up a Flickr set for my three sisters + mum, so they can see if there is anything they want to have (and it's weirdly nice if it's them, as if I WOULD lose that weight miraculously, I could get it back, hehe). There are tons of nice things, and stuff I've worn once or twice but know doesn't suit me at all/makes me feel uncomfortable. I just keep thinking about how much money I've wasted on stuff I've never even worn. Even things from just two months ago! But I'm being truthful and I always think it is a bad sign if I buy something and don't want to wear it immediately.

I'm being good and throwing stuff out too. Am I likely to wear, er, bikinis from when I was 14? No. Why the hell did I bring that to England to start with?! Oh my wardrobe, it holds mysteries and creatures from Ancient Egypt, I think.

Anyway, the Glamour article rules for sorting out were really good, I thought, and it made me look at things nicely, and in a (ultimately) healthy way:
It's gotta go!

Unsure whether to keep it? If it ticks any of these points, say goodbye

If it's too small
*
If you feel grumpy in it
*
If you haven't worn it in the past year
*
If you have a newer, better version of it
*
If it looks obviously dated
*
If it's beyond repair
*
If it looks "tired". Bobbly jumper, we mean you!
*
Shrunken, faded t-shirts
*
If you only bought it because it was on sale

Maybe that can inspire one or two of you to go through your things too. I find it strangely cathartic, with a side of uplifting an is ("I really DO have a lot of nice pieces!") mixed with a bit of sadness (at money wasted, at things I no longer fit into, what some items I foolishly bought represented in terms of how I really wish I looked).

aww, that makes me a bit sad, to be quite honest. but i'd also like to think that "all things have lives".

i don't want to throw out my friends :(

haha, you don't have to!

So far, and i know i can find more, i have sourced about 60 garments, 56 of which have been photographed and are being offered to sisters and mum, and 4 or so being thrown away.

BUT THAT MEANS THEY ARE NOT CLOSE TO ME IF I CHANGE MY MIND! Panic!

I mean. I've let go. I am not the contents of my wardrobe. I do not need them all. Zen.

And breathe.

I will enjoy not having all the clutter, and the guilt of seeing all the clutter and knowing it is stuff I won't use. It'll feel good. All the exclusively summery things I will just hang to one side of the wardrobe, so I don't have to have it all mixed up with autumnal things.

i bought some denim capris while in the US and it must have been a good idea because someone just told me it looked like I lost weight.
