Underwear!

Post by let it ride » Tue Dec 04, 2007 20:40

Yes! It's fun.

I bought a ton of fun bras and some matching sets when I thought I was a whole other bra size. Argh. Since I moved up to my new size, it's a lot harder to find anything that's not insanely ugly or anything. Having just remembered Figleaves.co.uk though, I am looking forward to buying tons of pretty new bras and sets when my student loan comes through... which is only, you know, barely two months left. Sigh.

Anyway. THEN! THEN! I shall buy lovely things then:

I desperately need some new bras, as most of mine don't properly fit anymore. I'm probably a 30 or 32C or B now and my 34C ones are baggy under the bust and some of them in the cup too. The outlet village has a Triumph and Calvin Klein, which have a pretty good selection. I just need to get the motivation to go there...

I have to say, I don't get overly excited about underwear. Not in the same way that I do with clothes and shoes. Sometimes I'll see a cute set, but generally I like things that don't show through your clothes. I don't like it when people wear frilly push up bras that show through and/or have the straps too tight so their breasts create an extra bulge over the top. Not attractive.
Just be nice to me.

No, that's what I call fourboobs! Kind of like the fourbuttocks.

I know what you mean though, whenever I see a horrible "line" because of a bra that has some seam that doesn't go well under whatever they are wearing, I think "A seamless bra would've looked better!" but I feel that I have quite a bit of basic stuff now. I would love strapless bras in a nude, white and black I think, as it is something I know am left without!

It's only really because I already have enough "normal" seamless bras that I want some fun ones that go well under SOME things, but not all.

im really not that fussed with underwear either. i have a couple of nice matching sets but im really fussy - i dont really like lace or anything too flimsy or fussy. i tend to wear plain black knickers and bras from marks and spencers, sort of classy yet understated :D

Haha! I do the plain ones too, but I've noticed what I love the most are fun ones that are still quite practical, so that they're not impossible to wear underneath the clothes!
When I get my next student loan, I want to buy tons of new knickers.
"They" say you're either an Agent Provocateur gal, or a Victoria's Secret gal. And I've realised, I am definitely one for VS. I'm more for cute sets and things than nipple tassles and the whole Burlesque look.

I'm bummed out VS isn't available in the UK though. Grrr.

Oh gosh, most Primark knickers are horrible and teeny.

That said though, they do stock my favourite ones, that are meant to be "invisible" underwear, hipster/boxer style, plain ones in some sort of stretchy but comfortable material. I absolutely LURVE them.

Cotton ones tend to be the best though.

I actually really like the knickers they have in Primark! I go in there once every few months just to buy pants and pyjamas, and I always get the big pants/boy-style pants that are all stripy or polka-dotty or have cute patterns on, and they are so comfortable. I hate the lacy stringy ones they do though.

I had a look in the John Lewis here the other day, and oh! What a mistake. They stock loads of the Freya range, and it's all gorgeous, but not cheap. They're one of the few brands that stock a large range of (pretty) stuff in anything over a DD cup. Even in the sale, they were pretty expensive, and I'm reluctant to buy any nice bras until I lose a bit of weight. I spent about sixty quid on lovely pretty new bras not that long ago, and then I put on more weight and they're all a little too small. I think I need to get myself down to the M&S sale for the time being.

i found a pauline reger bra in tk maxx the other day for a tenner! reduced from like £125 or summat!
it's very pretty, a dusky pink and gold lace balconette thing.

I don't really see the point of buying new underwear because noone sees it anyway! But if I go on a date, then I sometimes freak out and start buying underwear. Of course then, the guy is rubbish and it doesn't work out and again noone will see my underwear.
I was thinking that maybe it is bad luck if I buy underwear before I go on a date, you know? Next time I will just pretend that I don't care about that guy. Maybe that will help.
Hehehe...

I've had an embarrassing moment or two with (really) bad underwear and a girl. Dilemma: just get it off quickly and seem much too eager, or show the bad undies and risk disgusting the girl and ruining the moment?

I chose the worst option: laugh about it awkwardly, blush, and thus getting all the attention on how bad the underwear actually indeed really was. Without my reaction in the halfdark she might not have noticed it at all.

I should hastily add: with really bad I mean boxers with holes in it, not very unclean grandfather's pants.

Also: I know I'm not a gal. Sorry for posting in this thread!

I changed the title, there's no reason for it to be just ladies' underwear!

I think I may very well buy some underpants tomorrow. I only like patterned ones in theory, then I never like wearing them anyway.

Pants = fun to buy
Bras = not so much fun. There's too much that can be wrong with them, fit-wise.

I bought bras today that don't have under wires. I feel like a crazy person. But they're lovely and dainty and so much more comfortable. They make my other bras feel like torture devices.

Different kinds from Victoria's Secret. I thought I'd try a couple on and see what kind of craziness happened and they were marvelous! One of them is the "Ipex" bra which cost a fucking mansion but is lovely. It almost feels like a sports bra but it's still girly and not all boob-flattening.
