I was curious about that Ipex thing. I usually avoid VS because everything is so padded.

One of them is the "Ipex" bra which cost a fucking mansion but is lovely. It almost feels like a sports bra but it's still girly and not all boob-flattening.
I am wearing one of those right now. I just went on a big ol' utilitarian underwear spending spree and actually requested to measured for the first time ever. I'm up a cup size since high school, it seems. That would explain why my breasts, uh, didn't fit into any of my old bras.

I also bought loads of boyshorts. Boyshorts!

They are the best underwears ever.

I ALMOST bought those weird, seamless, rubbery 'no line whatsoever' VS panties, but they scared me in the end.

Do boyshorts cover your whole ass? I'm not trying to say you have a big ass or anything. I have a big ass. I don't mind trying on bras but the idea of trying on underpants is so weird to me that I only ever buy regular bikinis.

No, not really. I mean, each pair is different, I have some that are much longer than others. You can get a pack of 3 from Target for like 5 bucks if you want to try them out without making a huge investment.

And I nevernevernevernever try on underwear in stores, and I think people that do should probably be shot. I don't even like to test swimsuits! I don't like secondhand crotch-rubbing, even if I am wearing my panties like The Law says I should.

That feeling of the bottom of the butt trying to break free from underpants is just so awful, well to tell you the truth I'd rather wear granny panties.

I always wear boyshort type pants, but the dangerous thing is when they finish kind of ON the ass rather htan below it, but is of a material that is like "OMG A BUM, LET'S GO!" and starts going in different directions. I also hate pants where the seams roll up on the sides, which is uncomfortable and crazy-looking.

My favourite ones are cotton boyshorts with lace aroudnt the edges. Because they're not too low, they stay put and they don't show up under stuff.

Oh these are good for especially sheer or flimsy clothes too, I have them in all the colours they come in, haha:

Does anyone know where to find a good bustier? I don't mean one of those lace ones that one could wear when trying too hard to sex someone up, but a plain one that can be tightened really hard. I need it to wear under some dresses which have got really tight and high waists. I want it to cover my boobs but not have cups, it needs to be boned and have laces at the back. And not be too expensive. Any suggestions?

Decent corsets don't come cheap, unfortunately. I got my first proper one in the sale from what katie did (http://www.whatkatiedid.com/fes_php/fes ... ey=Default" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)and i love it to bits but the shape at the top means it doesn't work with some dresses. I also have a vollers underbust corset which I can wear under pretty much anything. I've only done so a couple of times though as it feels so very dressed up and I'm not a very dressed up sort of person usually. The only cheap corsets I've seen have been too flimsy to do much good so I would avoid thm personally.
Give over.

You know what. I'm going to go a bit loco today. I'm buying underwear but not based on what the ladies say I SHOULD wear. Because you know what? Those bras feel horrible, are so making-you-feel-100-years-old, AND the back size they want me to have squishes my back and sides so that unless I am wearing something black and loose it is totally visible. And like, I'm sorry measuring ladies but isn't underwear meant to give you nice support and shiz BUT also make you feel hott and make your clothes look good? The stuff they recommend to me always makes me clothes look shitty. Everyone knows I like my clothes, so, I'm going to La Senza and I am going to try things on until I figure out my comfortable/nice-looking size instead.

Astrid, your anorak name and the title of this thread made me feel a momentary virtual wedgie.

Hahahah! DO NOT let the underwear ride PLZ.

That's actually one of my worst feelings. Hates it. That's one great thing about winter and tights: It just KEEPS THAT UNDERWEAR in place, doesn't it? Mmmm. Also I imagine it "holds me in" a bit. I refuse to use like spanx or something although I could probably do with them, but the tights are as close as I get.

OH also I found the least sexy but most useful non-normal bra today: the nude/beige strapless! HURRAH! This opens up so many more options in my wardrobe for awesomeness clothes-wise. Yay.

you know what's been bugging me A LOT lately? is that 99% of bras are made with that weird foam padding stuff. does anybody actually like that? it's so unsexy and just...weird. why is it so hard to get a normal bra that's also pretty but doesn't have any foam to shape it or whatever. i've got some nice ones from topshop that are like that but it's not common to find them.

this has pissed me off before too so i'm probably repeating myself, but man, it's worth repeating because it sucks!

I KNOW!! Oh my god it is so shit. Like, really, no one wants to be Jordan under that jumper. Apart from Jordan maybe.

Today I kept going "Oooh that is quite nice!" but then reaching the gazillionth bra and going "AH NO, there is "Special Air Zoom Cleavage Pillowz" embedded in this bra TOO!" I hate them all, gel, air, normal padding. I think that goes for all sizes too really, that it just looks so much nicer without hysterical push-up. Ew. The silhouette is much... I don't know, more elegant somehow with a more natural shape, I think. Whatever size you're at, support is great, but there's support and then there's suffocating yourself with pushed up boobs.

yeah! it's like they just assume you want your boobs to look bigger and unnatural and weird. i wish i'd stocked up on those topshop bras that were pretty and functional and NOT PADDED!

I also used to like Topshop for it's non-padded junk bras. I went yesterday and there weren't any. This is quite tragic.

However, Intimissimi is my favorite underwear shop and they can be pretty good for non-padded bras. They've opened up one in London which I'm going to head down to next week which is much more convenient than going to Italy.

Here's the website. The current collection isn't that great. It's usually in the spring when they go all a bit twee.
http://www.intimissimi.it/english/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There's even a film on the site. It's low on plot and high on cleavage.

Undercolors of Benetton is also good for having nice non-padded bras. Also hard to find outside of Italy but the huge Benetton on Regent Street in London usually carries a decent stock.

I'm not travelling two hours to London just to buy underwear. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I've heard amazing things about Calvin Klein's underwear in terms of unpaddedness.
