End of the Road Festival 2010

Post by Jonty1 » Fri Sep 10, 2010 11:58

Latest from my friend who is at the event here, featuring a review of last night's gigs by Allo Darlin and Darren Hayman (who's new single and video are great btw). My friend has promised to put up a few more updates from the event at the same link...to make me jealous. Wish I was there, hrrummpph.

I'm stewarding there this year. Anyone else slightly gutted that Mountain Man opted out?

I'm going too. For lineup and setting it's probably my favourite festival of them all and they've excelled themselves this year.

I'm going again this year for the 3rd year in a row. It's a great festival and this year's line up is unbelievable good all the way through the bill. Probably more excited about some of the lesser bands then the actual headliners.

I think they've finished announcing bands but Thursday night had a couple of suprises last year; Mark Lanegan and Isobel (which everybody knew about a while before) and more suprisingly Willy Mason.

Probably an incredibly long shot, but if anyone has spare End of the Road tickets please could you let Dan and me know? Missed out on tickets due to a combo of it selling out early and us waiting to hear about DJ opportunities. It's the only festival other than Indietracks that we definitely like to get to every year so we'd be gutted to miss it!

It's worth checking out the ticket trust for people who want tickets - http://www.thetickettrust.com/Store/

Don't be put off by the fact that there's none up there yet. People have to physically have tickets in hand before they can sell them (those tickets have now arrived because mine are in my hand). The website is EOTR approved and you'll be buying them face value - plus some kind of admin fee - rather then the ridiculously extortionate £200+ some of them have fetched on EBAY.

So yeah, keep checking that and maybe it'll come good for anyone still needing tickets.

I've been keeping an eye on it but only spotted youth tickets so far. What counts as a youth these days, anyone not drawing a pension, yeah?

Dan and I managed to get tickets in the end, Ticket Trust seems to sell out the moment they get any but I guess they'll be getting more over the next week or so. We got ours just by sending woeful pleas out on Twitter. Seemed to work! I guess there'll be quite a few going last minute.

I've got two adult weekend tickets for sale at face value. I forget how much that it but they were early ones so a bit cheaper than normal.

Send me a message if you're interested!

A few of us have hired a car to travel down to the festival from London, we're leaving London on the thursday afternoon and coming back on Sunday and splitting the hire fee and petrol between us. We have space for one more person, PM me if you wanna come with!

I'm getting mighty excited today, can't wait to get there. As much as I do love Indietracks, I think End of the Road is my favourite festival. It's just brilliant. Let the excitement continue to ramp up about where the new stage is.

Ooooh, and just spotted that Robin Ince is on after Mogwai - which means he'll be at his angry best! Hurrah!

So basically Allo Darlin' won the festival. One of the biggest crowds in the Big Top all weekend and a huge signing tent queue. (In other Indietracks-is-taking-over developments, a mention of Sean Price's presence got a cheer. Also Emma Kupa breezed past me at one stage, which was potentially awkward given I was wearing her band's T-shirt)

Spotted in the EOTR woodland library on Saturday. One of these things is not like the others.

I got an awesome Peanuts book from the library, tho was tempted by the almost complete snoopy collection they had there!

Awesome festival, gave me a lot of ideas of things we could do at Indietracks, they put so much thought in how it looks and all the extra things like the piano and games area make it pretty special. Allo Darlin' were of course awesome, but I also loved Lykke Li, Tuneyards, Gruff and the secret Okkervil River show in the boat.

Did John Grant do his secret show at the piano? We left sunday afternoon and was a little bit gutted to miss that (tho the promise of a shower was too much!)
