I agree with his thinking on Double albums. He also talks sense when it comes to the 10 song rule - something the go betweens lived by.sweepingthenation wrote:New interview, which refers to a new lineup but seems to be the old lineup without Peggy: http://www.stereogum.com/1667199/qa-the ... nterviews/

Also seems to suggest that Kurt is either not in the new live lineup, or is playing synth instead of drumming...
Cheers!

Re: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
I'm actually kind of sad about all this new line up business. I always thought that one of the main factors about the pains was their almost shambolic live performances (don't mean this in a bad way, the energy made them one of my favourite live bands) Peggy's out of key backing vocals and the little in jokes were all part of it. Now it sounds as if theres going to be horns and all sorts on stage and I fear that the band may lose its charm. I think Kip should have recorded this under a different name and let the pains rest in peace with two great LPs, two lovely EP's and a bunch of wonderful singles.
At the same time I like both songs I've heard so far and Comet Gain didn't become great until the line up change with the third album.....I just can't imagine come saturday, young adult fiction etc without the classic line up.......

Six new songs off the new album all sound lovely (especially the ones with the new female vocalist)
I think I've calmed down now about the new line up.

Hi All,
I realize this forum may no longer be active (or, more rightly) interest in The Pains might - er - be lacking. But I wanted to share a small trove of old PAINS merchandise (concert posters, t-shirts, and other ephemera) that may be of interest to those of you who may still lurk here. If anyone finds this content annoying, apologies. Just trying to connect some weird old band stuff with some people who might be interested.

Thanks so much!
