I'm fond of these two albums from this year:
The Orange Glow, by Globelamp
and Tuck Your Bones In, by Anna Gordon

Oh, here's another great album from this year: O Aging! a split on Fallen Love Records between Rainbowfish and Darling Meadows
Which also reminds me to shamelessly plug the two albums I released this year:
The first was also a split on Fallen Love between my band (Salute to the Salmon) and Anthony Damiao, called O Moon!:
and I also self-released Shades of Blue and Green:

dick diver lp
g.l.o.s.s. demo 7"
everything on fruits & flowers (michael o lp, odd hope 7", three-way tape)
the mantles lp
your heart breaks cdr
flesh world lp
royal headache lp
shopping lp
choo choo trains tape
frozy lp
sacred paws 12"
go-betweens box set
perfectly fine, but more exciting to have than to listen to: the aislers set 7", frida & ale 10"
the first three songs of the dick diver lp and the last three of the g.l.o.s.s. demo 7" would be the two most perfect EPs of the year.

Re: Records of 2015
I just finally downloaded the two new Beach House albums from this year, Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars. I haven't listened to the latter yet, but I just listened to the former and I really like it a lot. It reminds me more of their self-titled and Devotion than Teen Dream and Bloom, and, for what it's worth, I've always been a much bigger fan of those first two albums than the latter two. I need to give it another listen or two, and one with lyrics in front of me, but so far, I'm digging this one.

Ok, so I listened to Thank Your Lucky Stars, and it's really good. It sounds even more like the self-titled than Depression Cherry. A+

Re: Records of 2015
I was in Rough Trade the other day, and I think the only album I'd heard off their albums of the year was
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell, which I agree is very good.
Oh, and the new Spook School's great.
Mrs Gordon loves the Kendrick Lamar one that's been getting all the hype.
Sadly, this is the year I went off Withered Hand. (Too little, too late?)

I think I've got about half a dozen. Joanna Gruesome's in there, pretty high up as well.Gordon wrote:I was in Rough Trade the other day, and I think the only album I'd heard off their albums of the year was

I liked the Kendrick Lamar single but couldn't get on with the LP. On the subject of hip-hop megastars though, I'm all about Kanye's triumphant return next year!

The Kendrick Lamar LP was so much better than anything else released in '15 that it's ridiculous.

Re: Records of 2015
Just listening to Withered Hand now. To be honest not listened in a while, and it's more enjoyable than I remembered.
I don't know what it says about me that my go to album is still 'Ben Folds Live'.

It has some absolutely spellbinding and exhilarating moments on it, but overall I found it a bit messy. Plus like pretty much every hip-hop album ever it's way too long, and happens to be even longer than most.carney wrote:The Kendrick Lamar LP was so much better than anything else released in '15 that it's ridiculous.

Re: Records of 2015
I can see why you say it's way too long, even if I don't agree! Ihave to listen to it in one sitting, and it's not always possible to get that amount of uninterrupted time. It was refreshing that the latest Earl Sweatshirt album is less than half an hour.Dan Pop-o-matic wrote:It has some absolutely spellbinding and exhilarating moments on it, but overall I found it a bit messy.
