Re: End of the Road Festival
This has a splendid line-up this year. I was talking to the woman who runs or helps run it at a gig a while ago, and I'm pretty sure she mentioned Low, the Dirty Three, Jason Molina, Mountain Goats and American Music Club and are all playing. That's almost my perfect (well, perfect non-pop) line-up.

Yeah, the line-up at time of going to Clipboard is: A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Akron/Family, American Music Club, Angelo Spencer, Billy Childish, Bob Log III, British Sea Power, Calexico, Darren Hayman (in Darren & Jack Play Hefner Songs mode), Devon Sproule, Dirty Three, FM Belfast, Friska Viljor, Jason Molina, Jeffrey Lewis, Kelley Stoltz, Kimya Dawson, Laura Marling, Low, Mercury Rev, Micah P Hinson, Mountain Goats, Sun Kil Moon /Mark Kozelek, The Wave Pictures, Two Gallants and Woodpigeon.
This was my very favourite festival of last year - listening to dulcet blues folk while tempting over peacocks, coming out of the tent where Misty's Big Adventure were playing to clock two parrots overhead, wandering through an enchanted forest area bedecked in fairy lights to a clearing featuring dissected mannequins and a piano, the massive queue at the Pie Minister stand, seeing Tom White about once every five minutes...

That sounds lovely, and it is a cracking line up. Not sure I'll make it but I hope a few of those people play dates around the time of the festival.

Re: End of the Road Festival
Conor Oberst doing his solo thing has been added as Friday headliner, which I can take or leave to be honest, but given the latest additions also include Kurt Wagner, Robyn Hitchcock, Miracle Fortress, Absentee, Dead Meadow, Baby Dee and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, and there's been a promise of three big-in-this-field names to come, I'll cope.

Stuck record, I know, but since we left it they've added Tindersticks, Richard Hawley, Bon Iver, Noah and the Whale, Brakes, Let's Wrestle and The Accidental among others.
God, the clashes are going to be horrendous.

Re: End of the Road Festival
I went last year and it was double awesome. Real ale, pies, a 3 min walk from the campsite to the main stage, a kite shop....
It was almost as good as Indietracks!

Re: End of the Road Festival
Apart from Pentangle (at Green Man) the lineup for this is looking way better than that of Green Man, I must say. Damn it.

Re: End of the Road Festival
It really is, isn't it? If I can save up enough for it (not altogether likely) I'm going to go even if it means hanging out by myself equipped only with a three quid tent, 'cause it'll be my last chance to see most of those bands for a while.

This is kinda enough to make me want to go this year. Mind you, the line-up also looks ace - it's so far away, though!sweepingthenation wrote:...wandering through an enchanted forest area bedecked in fairy lights to a clearing featuring dissected mannequins and a piano...

Re: End of the Road Festival
I'm still unsure whether or not to go to this one, after being initially unfussed the line up has slowly improved to the point where there are tons of band I want to see. I went last year and had a great time, but am always cautious of how horribly wrong it could go if the whether turns shit - it can get pretty cold in September.
I think it's going to come down to finance in the end.

Re: End of the Road Festival
Phew, I'm glad I got my tickets on Saturday rather than waiting til today to do it on work time as I'd originally intended. Does anyone know if they've got times up anywhere? I need to begin my spreadsheet of clashes....although, I have a horrible feeling that the 2 bands I want to see most of the weekend (Tindersticks and The Mountain Goats) are going to be one of those clashes. Gah!FactCheckinCuz wrote:The official site says this is sold out now.

Re: End of the Road Festival
Times are going up this week, apparently, but apparently there'll be no full set clashes at the sharp end of the bill. Just in the last week I've discovered The Acorn, and they're straight on my list of must-sees.

Re: End of the Road Festival
I inadvertantly got sent the stage times earlier in a handy Word document. Unfortunately I have no idea how to convert that into something I can post on here. The important news is that my stewarding shifts mean that the only people I know I'm disappointed about missing are Darren Hanlon, Shearwater and half of Stephen Adams.
These are my principles
If you don't like them I got others
This is my opinion
If you don't agree I've got big brothers
